The orthodox parish in Palanga was founded in 1995. In the beginning, it was hosted in one room of the Russian school. In 1999, Palanga Municipality allocated a land lot for the construction of the church and it was erected in 2001. The architect of the church ensemble is Dmitrij Borunov from Penza.
Morning and evening prayers are celebrated, sacraments of Confession and the Holy Communion are delivered and ecclesiastical days are celebrated in the church. A library is open (about 3000 books) and a publication “Iveros žvakė” is published here. This publication provides information on the services, feast days and church life.
